Just because you are travelling solo doesn’t mean you have to stay in communal establishment like hostels even though many people suggest that. It is not wrong to stay at hostel so you can meet other people. However, do not treat it as obligation. You can also stay in more traditional lodging to get the sense of tranquility and security because you won’t have to worry leaving your belongings while exploring the places. 

Common mistakes when travelling solo

Getting too ambitious on your first day can be a mistake because it can drain your body even more. You have just arrived carrying your luggage and all. You are still tired and feel disoriented. Hence, do not force yourself to explore the places right away. Give yourself time to take proper rest. You can stay in your room for few hours before begin your exploration. 

Running out of cash is such a big mistakes especially when travelling solo because you have no one to rely on. Imagine being in unfamiliar place wanting to buy a cup of coffee but your wallet is already empty of the local currency. Or, you run out of money and unable to buy foods. Those things don’t have to happen if you are always ready with your cash or at least know how to get it. 

Busy looking for company is considered a mistake in a way. You don’t have to keep finding company during your solo travel. If you are too focused on it then you probably won’t be able to enjoy the trip itself. Enjoy your time and make the most of your solo trip the way you like.

Getting wasted in unfamiliar place alone is such a dangerous mistake to do. Hence, limit your alcohol intake because you have no one to rely on if you are intoxicated. Also, being drunk can make you choose wrong decision. You don’t want to get in trouble while being alone. 

Ignoring potential danger and instinct is also a mistake when travel solo. You can do whatever you like for your solo trip but always stay on guard of potential dangers and warnings. If your instinct or intuition tells you something off, remove yourself from the situation and find safer place.
